MQB Haldex Tuning
Here at RRP we have been super busy developing our own Gen 5 Haldex AWD Software upgrade and flashing tool known as Haldex.Flash. By totally reworking the stock control strategy this allows us to improve power balance, cornering, and launch times.Â
Â
Our software upgrade is available for all Quattro and 4Motion MQB vehicles made from 2014-2024 with the module part number 0CQ 907 554 (X).Â
Â
Audi RS3 8V and TTRS 8S Now Available (Featuring all the improvements apart from power split as these models already have a 50-50 split)
Â
Â
In its stock form the Generation 5 Haldex unit will only send 30% of its power to the rear wheels under acceleration, although it does have the ability to send up to 50%. This is only achieved in certain situations such as wheelspin and for the most part leaves the car with a 70/30 front to rear power split. Â
Â
Our software allows a near perfect 50-50 power split between the front and rear wheels while under acceleration, this works wonders for overall performance in all forms of driving.Â
This is all achieved while keeping factory tolerances safe within the Haldex system. Vehicles with engine software benefit even more, the higher the power output the more prominent the front axle power is. This can lead to potential loss of traction, especially during launch conditions.Â
Â
Our upgrade is a must for improved handling, faster launches are simply an added benefit!Â
Â
- 50-50 Power split under acceleration for a sportier drive + tractionÂ
- Improved response times allowing faster torque transferÂ
- Torque split is not limited at higher speedsÂ
- Developed within factory tolerances of the Haldex system and built for daily driven vehicles and track useÂ
- 65% power increase to the rearÂ
- New launch control strategy allowing faster launch times
- Pump adaptions are carried out via our tool so no need for separate diagnostic tool!
- RS3-TTRS SupportedÂ
Â
We have carried out extensive testing in all road driving conditions as well as motorsports. During drag racing we found an average 60ft launch improvement of 0.08/0.10 secs depending on conditions. Track work found cars where much more balanced during high speed cornering and corner exits. We even found use cases for cold weather conditions massively assisting ice and snow driving!
Â
Pricing starts at £399 installed at our Headquarters based in the south of England. Installation can also be carried out one of our approved partners listed below.Â
We also have a do it yourself tool available at the link belowÂ

FAQ's
Absolutely not, its basically a scam!
These modules have a built in anti drone function that's available via UDS coding on the dealer tool and other diagnostic/coding tools such as VCDS. This functions sole purpose was to reduce vibrations and droning when fitted to different chassis models like the VW Tiguan and Audi S3 etc due to different harmonics.Â
The function allows the Haldex clutches to engage in a slightly different manner to reduce vibration when pulling away, this coding feature has been known for 12+ years and has no real measurable performance gain.Â
Various mobile coding tools have been labelling this as a Haldex tune/Upgrade which is simply not the case. This is only a coding change on the original software and not a replacement operating software like our offerings.Â
Our Haldex tune is a complete operating software replacement that is programmed over the top and replaces the factory software. Not just a coding change with minimal effect.
Not at all, infact on non 50-50 split cars our tune is actually improving the life of your clutch pack.Â
When the Haldex is disengaged or sending anything under 50% of its power the clutch pack is being slipped instead of being fully locked. This is the reason the Haldex pump can get blocked up with clutch material on a regular basis, from material that's been worn away during slipping.Â
Now its perfectly normal for these systems to slip the packs as power transfer is not needed all the time such as off throttle situations. However if under full acceleration anything under full engagement is slip, this is where our tune comes in ensuring a fully locked torque transfer during acceleration and thus less wear to the clutches.Â
The Haldex Pump itself is also well within its operating tolerance with our tune. The stock pump is also shared with the Audi R8/Lamborghini Huracan platforms which we regularly run 1000+Bhp with no pump failures at all. The pump is under 30% of its full capacity with our tune.
We have also inspected cars with our tune vs stock and found drastically less material stuck in the Haldex pump!Â
Nope! Think of this upgrade as strictly a handling upgrade, it improves the drive no matter the situation. You do not need to be pushing the car to its limit to find the benefits of the tune. Your cars dynamics will feel just as good on the road as it will the track!Â
Yes it will! Our software is loaded to the factory Haldex controller only so you can run our tune no matter your current ECU/TCU setup.Â
Absolutely! Our software not only improves torque transfer limits but how fast and when to apply torque. Along with revised launch control RS models benefit from our upgrade just as well as non 50-50 cars.
You can use the tool an unlimited amount of times once your car has a vin licence applied. You can also use the tool to flash other supported cars by purchasing additional vin licences in your user portal.Â
Nope, our software is built for fully operational Haldex systems, you should not be experiencing any front wheel spin even in dry launch conditions.
The Haldex system is relatively easy to diagnose but generally if you are having less or no engagement on the rear its down to a blocked/dead pump, failed Haldex module or low Haldex fluid after incorrect servicing.
Flashing our tune will not rectify these issues and in some cases will make it worse, ensure your system works before buying!
YES! We sell lots of units in snowy regions where traction is essential. We all know these cars are pretty good in cold conditions but the additional rear torque helps tremendously! Â
Our tune does not require an upgrade of the pressure relief valve spring. All torque transfer and pump duty settings are raised in our software, therefore there is no need to raise the pressure by tricking the system with a different spring.
Â
The only time we found the spring to be beneficial was on high power builds over 600bhp where super high pressures where needed to keep the clutches engaged during launch conditions.Â
